This is the family tree of my great grandfather Charles Hogg RAINE.

[1] Edward RAINE was born  c.1610 in Mickleton, Romaldkirk, Yks, possibly the son of Giles RAINE or of John RAINE. He may have still been alive in 1673 at Mickleton, Romaldkirk, Yks as there was an Edward RAINE registered for Hearth Tax. I have not definitely identified his marriage yet, but I believe that the following were his children:
[1a] Jane RAINE baptised in Mickleton 19 July 1629
[1b] Robert RAINE born some time after 1630, probably 1636.

[1b] Robert RAINE was born in c1636. Robert was employed as Fellmonger in 1660 in Mickleton, Romaldkirk, Yks. Robert married Alice HARKER in May 1660 at Romaldkirk and had the following children:

[2i] Margaret RAINE was born in 1675 in Mickleton, Romaldkirk, Yks. She was christened on 30 May 1675 in Mickleton, Romaldkirk, Yks.
[2j] Edward RAINE was born in 1677 and baptised on 8 Apr 1677 in Mickleton.

Eleanor WINTER was the daughter of William WINTER and was born on 7 Oct 1683 in Morland, Westmorland.  She had two siblings, Isable and William.  Edward and Eleanor had the following children:

[3b] Hannah RAINE was born 1 on 26 Dec 1708 in Mickleton, Romaldkirk, Yks. She was christened on 26 Dec 1708 in Mickleton, Romaldkirk, Yks. She may have married Christopher GIBSON on 26 Dec 1731 at Middleton in Teesdale, Durham.  They had a daughter, Mary.

John married Ann GELBY on 16 Sep 1736 in Bowes, Yks. Ann was born in Appleby, Westmorland on 24 Sep 1716, daughter of William GELBY. She was buried on 30 Jul 1756 in Barnard Castle, Durham.   She probably died in childbirth as her youngest son John was baptised on the same day.

Note: Although there are two marriages for 1736 in the parish transcripts for Bowes
28 Apr 1736 John RAINE and Ann BROWN
16 Sep 1736 John RAINE and Ann GELBY.

Due to other evidence found in the Barnard Castle register I think the Gelby marriage is the correct one.

John then had a long liaison with Hannah WATERMAN daughter of Thomas WATERMAN. Hannah was born on 08 Dec 1723 in Barnard Castle, Durham. She was christened 08 Dec 1723 in Barnard Castle, Durham.  She was buried in Barnard Castle on 12 Dec 1791.  They never married.
